Worship Services

We gather every week on Sunday for reverent and traditional worship grounded in the authority of Scripture.

Whether you are new to church entirely or visiting Emmanuel Church for the first time, we want to make your experience as welcoming as possible.

Join us on Sundays at 11am and 6.30pm.

“O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the Lord our maker.” — Psalm 95:6

What to Expect

Worship

We worship God in a traditional and reverent manner. This consists of the reading and preaching of God’s Word as found in the Bible, prayer, and the singing of psalms. Services follow the regulative principle. This means we adhere to worship practices only as prescribed in the Bible.

Worship services are led by our pastor and assistant pastor.

Bible Reading

In the course of our worship we read consecutively through both Old and New Testaments. The Authorised Version of the Bible is used at all our services and meetings. We believe it is still the best English translation of the Word of God.

If you don't have a Bible, you can request a free copy from us, or make use of the Bibles provided in each pew. Alternatively, read the Bible online with the Trinitarian Bible Society's free Bible app.

Preaching

We believe in the centrality and importance of the faithful preaching of God's Word where our Pastor, or Assistant Pastor, will preach a sermon expounding upon a passage of scripture to teach, exhort and edify believers in the truth and to call unbelievers to repentance and faith. The evening sermon is usually evangelistic in nature.

Prayer & Praise

The congregation stands while the minister leads in public prayer.

We sing to give praise to God using the metrical version of the Book of Psalms, the only divinely authorised manual of praise. Singing is without the use of musical instruments and is usually led by a precentor, or introduced by an organ when a precentor is unavailable.

Service Duration

Worship services are typically an hour and a half in length.

Livestream

For those unable to attend our services in-person, or who would like to get a feel for worship before attending, our services are also live-streamed online, with recordings available afterwards.

Young Children

Families with young children are welcome at our services. The service is also relayed to a live feed in a room for parents at the back of the church.

Refreshments & Fellowship

Join us after the evening service for an informal time of refreshments and fellowship.
